Location & Early History
Just an hour off the I-5 corridor, Florence is nestled between Eugene and Portland with a friendly, temperate climate. The city was named for the state senator A.B. Florence, who represented Lane County from 1858 to 1860.
The city has abundant outdoor recreational activities, and exceptional schools, libraries, and parks. It is home to the Florence Community Event Center, as well as the Three Rivers Casino which opened in 2007.
